Englewood is served by PSE&G, which is Public Service Electric and Gas, the largest electric utility in New Jersey. Everything in the city is on the same utility, so there is no address by address guessing about who owns the transformer at the curb.
That matters more than it sounds. The utility controls the timeline on anything that touches the incoming service, meaning the point where the utility's wire ends and your building's electrical system begins. If a project needs a bigger service, a new meter bank, or a temporary feed during construction, PSE&G sets the date, not the contractor and not the general contractor's schedule. We build that lead time into the bid instead of discovering it in week six.
Being on PSE&G also decides which incentive programs a building can apply to. PSE&G runs its own commercial energy efficiency and electric vehicle charging programs that are only open to its own customers, and a building in a Rockland Electric town two exits north cannot use them.

Englewood requires contractors to register with the city and file proof of insurance before permits are issued, and the city runs its permitting through an online portal. We keep our registration and insurance current so a job does not stall at the counter over paperwork that has nothing to do with the electrical work.
Englewood also publishes its own requirements for standby generators on commercial and multi-family buildings, separate from the state code. If a generator is in scope, that gets checked against the city's requirements at estimate time rather than at inspection.
